A few days ago, I posted this photo and asked for guesses about what it was. I only got one response, which wasn’t far off the mark. This is actually an interior mud wall in the falling-down house that’s on our property. It has a thatched roof and is a common kind of house that was made years ago. All the materials would have been right there on the land–mud, sticks, and palm leaves for the roof. The mud in the wall has dried up and shrunk to a smaller size, but you get the idea of how it’s supposed to look. We’ve removed a lot of the boards from the exterior of the house to use for other purposes so the house doesn’t look much like a house any more.
